“Government has a lot more than doubled the vacancies for associate loco technician and pilot articles from 26,502 to 60,000, ensuring more careers in Railways,” Piyush Goyal said in a tweet.


This has come as a large relief to almost 48 lakh candidates who've applied for the first group of computer-based tests for the 26,502 vacancies of Associate Loco Pilots (ALP) and technicians, on August 9 which is held.

The Ministry of Railways had earlier announced the recruitment for Professionals and ALP for 26502 posts in February 2018. In response compared to that, around 47.56 lakh applicants had requested the advertised posts.

''The notified vacancies of 26,502 for the articles of Technicians and ALP will tend to be increased considerably to about 60,000 vacancies,'' the Ministry of Railways said in a news release.

The ministry further mentioned that optimum care has been taken up to allocate centers to the applicants in their own or close by cities.

''It is to be mentioned that the notified 26 also,502 vacancies are pass on over different Railway Zones and Says and candidates from around India have used against these pan India vacancies. About 40 lakh applicants (83%) have already been accommodated within 500 Kilometres. Concern has been directed at women and Divyang (Individuals with Disabilities) applicants in allocating centers of their own or nearby cities.
